# An alternative to SEO Minion

Alternative, checked October 6, 2026.

SEO Minion is a deep technical toolkit, and on many rows the two extensions do the same job: both check hreflang return tags, check a page’s links by HTTP status, compare the server’s HTML with the rendered page, validate structured data, preview the Google result and open a search from two locations. SEO Minion goes further on redirects, which it follows through server, meta refresh and JavaScript hops, and on Google results, where it exports every listing type and scrapes People Also Ask questions by the thousand. It ships on Firefox and Edge, where ours is Chrome-only. Ours adds a 0–100 score with an A–F letter on the toolbar icon, Core Web Vitals, readability scores and a user-agent switcher, none of which SEO Minion’s own pages mention. The sharpest difference is the price of entry: since June 2023 SEO Minion has required a Keywords Everywhere annual plan at Silver tier or higher, plus a second extension and an API key; ours is free with nothing to sign into. If your Keywords Everywhere plan is Silver or higher, you already have SEO Minion and should use it. If not, ours is where to start.

Written by SEO Bandwagon, who make one of the two extensions on this page. SEO Minion's advantages are listed before ours, and every row in the table below is checkable against their own published pages.

## Where SEO Minion is stronger

SEO Minion is published by Keywords Everywhere (Axeman Technology Solutions LLP, as its Edge listing names it) and, as of October 6, 2026, its Chrome Web Store listing shows 200,000 users at 4.0 out of 5, from 796 ratings, last updated 22 February 2026. It runs on Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Cross-sourced: the Firefox add-on is v3.20, updated 20 February 2026; the Edge add-on is v3.20, updated 20 February 2026; their own site offers all three ("Install for Chrome / Install for Firefox / Install for Edge").

- Hreflang checking that follows the tags outward: "Check all Hreflang tags on the page, as well as on all the pages linked through the tags" and "check hreflang tag validity, as well as whether there are return tags present". Theirs has checked return tags since 2019; ours does too.
- Whole-page broken-link checking, sorted by response code: "check every link on a webpage and get a report of any links with issues", categorised "based on Status Codes".
- SERP data extraction at volume: "copy/download URLs & data from Google SERP - Organic, Advert, Local, Product, Video, Image, Fresh, News, FAQ listings & PAA data", plus "Scrape thousands of People Also Ask questions from the Google SERP". Ours copies the organic results and the People Also Ask questions already on the page.
- Multi-location, non-personalised SERP comparison: "view non-personalized google search results for one keyword on two different location/language combination."
- HTML vs. rendered-DOM diffing for JavaScript SEO problems, since 2023: "analyze the differences between the HTML source code and the rendered DOM to check if your JS library is causing any SEO related issue".
- Structured-data validation in three formats, as they name them: "Analyze & Validate the structured data (JSON-LD, RDFa, POSH) of any webpage".
- Redirect tracing across all three mechanisms: "Find all Redirects that a URL has taken (Server, MetaRefresh & Javascript)". Ours lists server redirects hop by hop and only flags a client-side one.
- It ships on Chrome, Firefox AND Edge. We are Chrome-only.
- A long public track record: 200,000 Chrome users, 796 ratings, and a dated changelog running from v1.1 (27 January 2019) to v3.20 (20 February 2026).
- Endorsed on their own landing page by Aleyda Solis, a widely recognised technical-SEO practitioner: "SEO Minion is hands down my fav SEO browser extension!"

## What each one does

Capabilities only: nothing here rates how well either tool does its job. 1 row goes our way, 2 go theirs, and on 4 more SEO Minion's own pages do not say either way.

| Capability | SEO Bandwagon | SEO Minion | Note |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Score (0–100) in the popup, letter grade (A–F) on the toolbar icon | Yes | Not stated | Not claimed or ruled out by their store listing, site, FAQ or changelog, read 6 October 2026. The listing’s nine tasks leave out the site’s "Check Redirects", so that list is not complete. Their on-page feature is descriptive: it lets you "view useful information that will help you optimize the On-Page SEO". |
| Lists the issues it finds by name, such as “Missing H1” | Yes | Yes | Their on-page feature will "alert you to any issues", and their site offers to "Analyze On-Page SEO issues for any webpage: Meta Tags, Headings, Open Graph etc". |
| Google SERP preview | Yes | Yes | Theirs is a strong implementation, not a token one: "preview your website on a real Google search result and update this in real time". |
| Heading structure outline | Yes | Yes | Headings sorted by level or "in the way they are found in the HTML" (changelog v1.8), highlighted on the page and downloadable. Ours lists the first H1 to H3 in the popup and copies or exports the full H1–H6 outline in page order. |
| Structured data / schema view | Yes | Yes | "Analyze & Validate the structured data (JSON-LD, RDFa, POSH) of any webpage". |
| Structured data checked for missing required fields | Yes | Yes | Theirs validates, in their words, in three formats. Ours checks JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa against the required and recommended properties of common types. |
| Core Web Vitals, measured in your browser | Yes | Not stated | Not claimed or ruled out by their store listing, site, FAQ or changelog, read 6 October 2026. The listing’s nine tasks leave out the site’s "Check Redirects", so that list is not complete. Their scope is HTML, DOM and SERP work. |
| Readability scoring | Yes | Not stated | Not claimed or ruled out by their store listing, site, FAQ or changelog, read 6 October 2026. The listing’s nine tasks leave out the site’s "Check Redirects", so that list is not complete. Their on-page feature counts words and characters. |
| Broken link check | Yes | Yes | Both group links by HTTP status: theirs will "categorize them based on Status Codes". |
| Redirect chain, hop by hop | Yes | Yes | Theirs follows "Server, MetaRefresh & Javascript" redirects. Ours lists server hops and flags a client-side redirect without following it. |
| Hreflang return-tag check | Yes | Yes | Their changelog, v1.3 (March 2019), flags when an "hreflang tag page does not have a return tag". |
| Server HTML compared with the rendered page | Yes | Yes | "analyze the differences between the HTML source code and the rendered DOM", since v3.4 (May 2023). |
| User-agent switcher | Yes | Not stated | Not claimed or ruled out by their store listing, site, FAQ or changelog, read 6 October 2026. The listing’s nine tasks leave out the site’s "Check Redirects", so that list is not complete. |
| People Also Ask questions, pulled from Google results | Yes | Yes | "Scrape thousands of People Also Ask questions from the Google SERP". |
| Google results as searched from another location | Yes | Yes | Theirs shows one keyword "on two different location/language combination", non-personalized. Ours opens two locations in two tabs, with personalization off if you choose. |
| Free, no sign-in to analyze | Yes | No | This is the sharpest difference between the two, and it is total rather than per-feature: "SEO Minion is available only to customers of Keywords Everywhere’s Silver or higher plan." Their Edge listing: "There are no free trials, and no free features for this add-on." Setup also requires installing the Keywords Everywhere extension and pasting a validated API key. It was free until June 2023, so much of the writing you will find about it predates the change. |
| Firefox build | No | Yes | Theirs, not ours, and current with their Chrome build at the same version. They ship on Edge too. Our Firefox port is on the roadmap and is not shipped. |
| A large user base on the Chrome Web Store | No | Yes | They show 200,000 users and 796 ratings. Ours showed 6 users and one rating on 6 October 2026. |

## How we checked

Every row above was checked on October 6, 2026 against SEO Minion’s own Chrome Web Store listing, keywordseverywhere.com/seominion/ with its FAQ, pricing page and changelog, and its Firefox and Edge add-on pages, and against our own extension, version 1.7.1, in the same sitting. User counts and ratings are whatever the Web Store displayed that day.

“Not stated” means exactly that: SEO Minion's own pages neither claim the capability nor rule it out, and we will not turn that silence into a “No”.

Products change. A comparison page that is right on the day it ships and never re-checked becomes a false claim about someone else's software, so this one carries its date in the open and gets re-verified before every publish rather than left to age.
