Did anyone feel a little earthquake last night?

The unthinkable happened the other day. When ComScore released their monthly report on Internet traffic Google was off of it’s top spot for the first time since 1998.

That’s quite a run.

Yahoo! beat them.

After you pick your jaws off the floor, more like Yahoo! AND Tumblr beat Google for pageviews. For all the criticism about Marissa Mayer and the employment policy changes, the acquisitions, all of those moves have worked in her favor and she has made Yahoo! hot again. The controversy probably didn’t hurt their traffic either.

It’s not like Google stopped being the most trafficked search engine or anything like that. Carry on.

But, if you look at the other table from ComScore, Google still has better ad penetration than any of its competitors and Yahoo! still has a ways to go before that metric changes.
