An alternative to Detailed SEO Extension

These two overlap more than either one’s marketing suggests: both outline headings, show schema, check hreflang return tags, switch user agents and pull People Also Ask questions from Google. Install theirs if you want the fastest read of a page’s raw elements from a tool with 600,000 users behind it, or if you work in Firefox. Install ours if you also want the page scored, a 0–100 number with an A–F letter on the toolbar icon and the issues it found listed by name, next to broken-link, redirect and rendering checks and structured data checked field by field, none of which Detailed’s own pages mention. Neither excludes the other, and plenty of people run both.

Written by SEO Bandwagon, who make one of the two extensions on this page. We have tried to make that impossible to forget rather than easy to miss: Detailed SEO Extension's advantages are listed before ours, and every row in the table below is checkable against their own published pages.

Where Detailed SEO Extension is stronger

This section comes first on purpose. Detailed SEO Extension is published by Ahrefs Pte. Ltd. and, as of October 6, 2026, its Chrome Web Store listing shows 600,000 users at 4.9 out of 5, from 233 ratings, last updated 2 June 2026. It runs on Chrome and Firefox. Cross-sourced: detailed.com/extension offers "Add to Firefox", and the Firefox add-on is v2.2.7 with 7,664 users, updated 8 May 2026.

  • 600,000 users and 4.9 out of 5 from 233 ratings on the Chrome Web Store, with the Featured badge, and it is published by Ahrefs. Ours showed 6 users and one rating the same day.
  • It ships on Firefox as well as Chrome, at the same version, 2.2.7. We are Chrome-only.
  • It is built for speed, in their words: "Get page-level insights in milliseconds", "Built by full-time SEO’s for daily analysis."
  • It is free: "It’s 100% free, with regular updates and zero tracking." Nothing on their pages asks you to sign in.
  • Its technical checks match several of ours: it checks hreflang return tags ("check if the other page also references the current one you’re checking"), switches user agents ("Change your user agent to view a site as ‘Googlebot’ and more."), and reads the X-Robots-Tag header ("we check for X-Robots HTTP headers as well").
  • It pulls People Also Ask questions from Google "including multiple levels deep". Ours copies the questions already showing on the page.
  • Its right-click menu opens the page in Ahrefs, Moz and Majestic. Ours opens Google’s testing tools and the Wayback Machine instead.

What each one does

Capabilities only — nothing here rates how well either tool does its job. 0 rows go our way, 2 go theirs, and on 10 more Detailed SEO Extension's own pages do not say either way.

How we checked

Every row above was checked on October 6, 2026 against Detailed SEO Extension’s own Chrome Web Store listing, its landing page at detailed.com/extension and the changelog on that page, and its Firefox add-on page, and against our own extension, version 1.7.1, in the same sitting. User counts and ratings are whatever the Web Store displayed that day.

“Not stated” means exactly that: Detailed SEO Extension's own pages neither claim the capability nor rule it out, and we will not turn that silence into a “No”.

Products change. A comparison page that is right on the day it ships and never re-checked becomes a false claim about someone else's software, so this one carries its date in the open and gets re-verified before every publish rather than left to age.

If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
